Workshop Description
Join Leslie Messersmith for a workshop exploring an ancient technique for surface decoration! Cuerda Seca means “dry cord” or “dry line”. Designs are drawn with a pigmented wax resist (we’ll be using black) then filled with color, in this case Cone 6 glazes.
A glazing kit will be offered at the end of the workshop for $35.00. Includes 5 squeeze bottles and tips filled with Cone 6 Amaco Satin or Celadon Glazes (your choice of colors) so you can continue using this technique right away. Instructor prefers cash for this purchase.

Meet Your Instructor
Leslie Messersmith My early training in production pottery and my degree in sculpture from VCU have carried me on a path to creating useful and beautiful objects. I also enjoy making sculptural, decorative objects. I use many different ceramic processes to create my work and am inspired by the natural world and by the rich history of ceramics worldwide. I participate in several local craft shows annually. You can see my work in these Virginia galleries: A Touch of Earth in Williamsburg, Gallery 527 in Scottsville and in Richmond the VMFA Virginia Artisan Gallery in the gift shop. |
