Course Description
This Mixed-Media class is a collage of artistic experiences rooted in one fundamental creative principle – to provide children with the
foundation that will inform and inspire their vision and imagination. We will explore line, shape, color, texture, shape, and pattern through creative 2d and 3d works of art. We will be creating and exploring drawing and painting techniques, collage, and sculpture, all in a variety of mediums and styles. The study of famous artists will be introduced through age-appropriate literature and vibrant visuals. This class is dedicated to providing children with inventive art instruction and projects that will enhance their creative problem-solving skills, as well as encouraged out-of-the-box expression. All materials are provided. ALL NEW LESSONS
We have taken many precautions to make our studio safe and inviting. We ask that anyone entering the studio wear masks (although we may soon go "mask optional"). We have air purifiers, individual art supplies, and deep clean after every class.
We are happy to do our best to make up time with notice if your child will be absent, although we can not guarantee an opportunity for a make up class will be available. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer make-ups for lost time if your child is late.

Meet your Teacher
Meg Foster After receiving her BFA in Art Education from VCU, Meg taught in Chesterfield County Public Schools for over 13 years. With a passion for teaching art to young children, she was recognized by her fellow teachers in 1996 and was awarded Teacher of the Year at Harrowgate Elementary in Chester, VA. Before taking time off to stay home with her two young children, Meg was the art teacher at Robious Elementary for 7 years. As a way to return to her passion of teaching, she started with after school classes; "Arthaus Kids," in the fall of 2008. The dream of ArtHaus Visual Arts Studio came together when the new studio opened in September 2010. Meg is currently the Lower School art teacher at St. Christopher's School in Richmond, VA. |
